This is the first survey.

ETA: Where there's a scale for ranking, 1 is least important and 10 is most important. Thanks to those who pointed this out to me.

I'll put you on my mantelpiece or something.

Can I ask why that is? Are you generally notinterested in visiting locations and stuff, or is it Torchwood and Doctor Who in particular?

I would guess, if I had to pin it down, I like gaining something tangible from visits. So the Doctor Who Experiences were sort of what I was wanting, with mock ups of design rooms and creative processes and models and stuff, and it told you stuff and you saw stuff and you left having gained information and having had an Ood talk at you (or, an Experience, as the name would suggest).

Whereas say, the Roald Dahl Plass is a pretty area, and it's lovely that Wales and Cardiff specifically found it appropriate to give a lasting tribute to one of the best most-loved writers it's ever produced, and the fact that one of Wales' other most popular writers chose to centre his tv series around it is genuinely, truly fantastic. But a 3 hour drive to visit the Plass and stand on a step and go "yay" isn't enough for me. Especially when - DW especially - focuses so much on the extraordinary happening in the ordinary - all their outside locations deliberately look like they could be anywhere, any street.

(Don't get me wrong. I feel a sense of scale when I'm at Hadrian's Wall, or Bosworth Field, or driving across Anglesey looking at the world's first modern suspension bridge with a backdrop of Snowdonia, just not on a council estate that is essentially still just a council estate that once had a camera on it. I did once end up at Heartbeat's location village while we were on holiday in Yorkshire and it really was a village exactly like the previous one we'd been to. Just with a film crew.)

*Which isn't to say I'm not interested in Cardiff for Cardiff's or Wales's sake (seriously - Norman Castle! Owain Glyndwr! The place used to be the biggest coal port in the entire world, and the effect of the General Strike of '26 and the Bells of Rhymney and the story even has a happy ending, with regeneration for the area and BBC drama studios and they've probably managed to produce the most successful UK TV writer of our time in RTD (and we extend the area to South Wales and we ignore the shite times up in different areas). But I much more see Torchwood as part of Cardiff's story, rather than Cardiff being part of Torchwood's.)
